Aden protests demand end to economic collapse and power outages

Protests erupted in Aden, a city under the control of the Saudi-led coalition in southern Yemen, as power outages lasting up to 20 hours a day sparked public outrage.

AhlulBayt News Agency: Protests erupted in Aden, a city under the control of the Saudi-led coalition in southern Yemen, as power outages lasting up to 20 hours a day sparked public outrage.

On Saturday evening, hundreds of angry residents, mostly youth, gathered in Sheikh Othman and Al-Mansoura neighborhoods to protest the ongoing electricity crisis. Demonstrators blocked major streets with stones and burning tires.

A wave of public dissatisfaction is sweeping through Aden and southern provinces due to extended power outages and a deteriorating living situation, exacerbated by the dollar's selling price exceeding 2,520 Yemeni riyals, with no significant economic reforms by the coalition-backed government.

Demonstrations demanding the dismissal of the pro-coalition government and urgent actions to stop the economic collapse and poor basic services are expected to persist in Aden, Lahj, and Hadramout in the coming days.
